Naturally passionate
Our passion for plants is nothing new in itself, since plants and their preparations have been consumed for millennia, regardless of country or culture. Many medicines nowadays incorporate an active botanical substance. Modern man is trying to explain the benefits of these traditional and empirical remedies through science, by analysing the active ingredients. People across the world use them, seasonally or as a cure, from a simple herbal tea to complex manufactured nutritional supplements.
Strict regulations have been enforced everywhere which are aimed at providing the consumer with maximum safety. Currently more than 35 000 plants are being used in various industries. It is estimated that there are over 500 000 botanical species worldwide. The WHO (World Health Organisation) recognises the traditional usage of more than 22 000 botanical species and 2 500 are registered in the French Pharmacopoeia.
